Medieval Class
Medieval was, by far, the most adventurous class of the semester. Not only did we flock from church to church and from museum to museum, but we climbed up scaffolding on the side of Chartres Cathedral, walked above the vault and around the outside of the top of Reims Cathedral, and got the master key and some nifty artifacts from Senlis Cathedral. Danielle had no regard for barriers or NO ENTRY signs, and merely dismissed them as if they didn't exist. I loved this class!
CHARTRES
On the south (or north?) facade of this church was a huge production of scaffolding and
restoration. Danielle led us in and up 4 flights of ladders so that we came face to face
with Gothic sculpture being cleaned and set up with electrical wires...

Sara & Danielle leading the way..
REIMS
Reims was a tale of 246 steps up a winding staircase with Bruno in the lead. The top was
breathtaking, however, and so in the end, it was worth it!
Sara, Bruno, Kristin & Cameron after the long haul up the stairs
an angel in need of cleaning - this one's for you Jerrilyn! (she's deathly scared of
angels...)
and here's me, thinking I'm all tall. HA

SENLIS
We drove down to Senlis - which was quite interesting. Danielle, Jerrilyn & I in
one car leading Katie, Kristin & Sara in the other car. What was the best was Danielle
parking in the handicap zone - good going!!
But, the master key was ours and we went in every door we could find, including the
dressing chamber of the priests...
I love this class
a summary of our class!

Senlis had weird weather. One minute, it was sunny, the next it was raining, then sunny
again and then HAIL! Lots of hail!!
