My Travels
(to wherever it may be)

Throughout this wonderful life of mine, I've always wanted to share my pictures and photos with people. A few years ago, I had this babysitting job in Monaco for 6 weeks, and while people may say what a poor thing I am and how awful a time I must have had :) , the images that I have in my memories are something that I fortunately got on film - which almost never happens. It's weird, isn't it when you take all these pictures of trips and what not and then you get home only to say ... wow, that wasn't what it was like... Or you're showing them to people and saying, well, that's a bad picture but... You know? Fortunately, this trip was taken with the best intentions and the greatest companions I could have ever had. After Monaco, my mother and her best friend Helen came and we took a trip through Italy and wound up later in Paris. It was fabulous, wonderful, memorable and these photos only give a brief introduction to the wonders of Europe.

Monaco

The coast of Monaco - amazing to think that the whole town looks like this!

The famous Monaco Casino

This is what's called 'Old Town' - where the royalty live...
and I must say that i caught glimpses of them here and there.

A common street scene -
actually the one I lived at for those weeks -
a typical really narrow street

the departing Monaco shot - this statue brought me to strange thoughts.
Something that I couldn't explain.. I wish I knew the name and artist.

Italy

Portofino
A coastal town that had beautiful painted walled houses and the Mediterranean surrounding it.

Assisi
The place of St. Francis - this is the inside courtyard of San Damiano,
the church that St. Francis built

This is the church that is dedicated to St. Francis - San Francesco in Italian. The outside of the church, and indeed the whole town is covered in this cobblestone look.. beautiful. The inside ceiling is covered in these fabulous frescoes, mainly in blue and greens and it's simply a wonder to behold. We attended a church service here and it was magnificent. Unfortunately for us, it's being torn down these days by earthquakes which really is a shame since it is a fantastic and magical church.

Venice
The first thing that most people encoutner when going to Venice are these canals -
you can't avoid them since they don't have cars. Aaaaah, Venice.

Here we have San Marco - where we spent most of our time. It was being restored when we were there so it somewhat takes away from the beauty. The entire cathedral is covered in this mosaic... little tiny pieces of gold-leafed tiles among others - and when I say the entire cathedral, I mean it... the floors, the walls, the ceiling - Everything... it's so beautiful. Here is one of the entrances that still remains intact. I've never been in such awe before. Below you'll see photos that I took of the ceiling and floor- to think that it's made up of these little pieces is amazing.

Mosaic Floor - San Marco

Ceiling of San Marco - major mosaic

And finally the pigeons - these things are so ruthless.
They wait outside San Marco and the Doge's Palace
and practically attack you. And fat they are!

Rome
It was at the end of our trip so all we got to see was
the Vatican (this being the outside facade).

The inside of the Vatican - you can see Bernini's work in the back
(something I'm studying in art) along with influences by Michelangelo.

To the side of the actual Vatican, there lies the Vatican Museums
which include ceilings such as this one -
definitely a literal pain in the neck! (but beautiful)

France

Can't get away without going to Paris - here we are in the shopping district :)
view from the top of the Eiffel Tower

The Tower of Gold

Well, I hoped that you liked my trip. Since it was only one and there are so many more, maybe in the future I'll include pictures from Amsterdam, Tokyo and most definitely India. You really can't get a feel for a place unless you see these pictures, and I know that it sparks interest in the adventurous soul hidden in us all.
