Windsor
Castle with the Vervilles!![]()
The fabulous Verville family came for a visit to London, ran around like MANIACS (I was
exhasuted simply listening to their daily tales) and on one outing, we ran off to Windsor
castle where we were greeted with buffets and rain and no sighting of the Queen.
The Verville women! Lori, Joann and Missy!
My Missy in the rain
Alishya with the infamous mole in profile... damn thing. >:|
I actually asked this man if it was ok if we took a picture, but he ignored me. Sigh. So
much for flirting with the guards!
Hard
Rock Fever![]()
The Vervilles and I trekked down to the Hard Rock Museum where we were entertained with
scandalous stories of celebrities and surrounded on all sides by famed guitars. Here's me
on Jimi Hendrix's couch where, it was reputed, 'all kinds of things occurred'.
Our nifty guide for the tour in front of priceless memorabilia.
Me and a DELICIOUS sundae... mmmmmmmmmmm
Alishya and Missy cozy up while Tom meets the future in-laws in his Caterpillar shirt.
Mmm-hmm.
Lunch at the
Texas Embassy![]()
Aaah, the Texas Embassy - memories of the yummy chimichangas is enough to make salivation
occur. Mmmmm.
Missy and Kristine - my cuties!
Katie and Alishya lounging!
Justin
visits London![]()
My dearest Justin came to visit London from Liverpool one weekend and after hours and
hours of driving, finally made it to Earsby Street. Wagamama's, LOTS of tequila and
lounging defined our weekend and much fun was had!
Justin graced my house with new tattoos including this one... I was there for his first
tattoo, the monkey in the middle, but since then he's gotten a little on the experimental
side :)
Walk
in Chelsea![]()
It was a fine day in late October and I decided to make use of my
guidebooks (for only the second time since I had arrived). This day was a walk in Chelsea
which I caught at sunset and which remains my most beautiful walk in London.
By far, the most interesting street name in London
Walking towards Albert Bridge
The beautiful Albert Bridge at night - lots of lights!
London
Shots![]()
Aaah, the MBAs. They worked and worked but still managed to smile when it was almost over!
Vicki and Pavi ... Cherry behind the desk
This has gotta be a fave moment in our apartment. I'm sitting in my room, doing something
functional on the computer, and I hear Katie go "AAAAAAGGGHHHHHH!" with a weird
clinking noise. I knew what had happened before I went in, but I bounded out of bed just
in case Katie had actually injured herself and found Katie peering suspiciously into the
toilet. And, of course, the moment we were all dreading - tweezers in the toilet!
HeeHee, poor Katie.
LAST
NIGHT OUT![]()
For our final night out, we all trekked out to a snazzy pub to toast a wonderful semester.
Tears, pints and laughs summed up our wonderful year together!
Alishya and Emily drinking waaaaay too much!
Our newlyweds snuggling!
Simon and Kristine
Katie and Alishya - CUTE CUTE CUTE!
The crew!
Emily, Alishya, Kristine (what happened to Kristine's head?), Katie, Simon and Pooja
Now that it's all over, I just want to thank all of my fellow
Richmonders and friends for the most wonderful year I've ever spent. You've become the
siblings I never had and the sisters I place all my love and trust in. I dedicate these
pages the following people:
Missy
Thank you for resigning as gin queen (i know you let me win on purpose), for doing the
Shakira dance, for staying calm after the pursuit by the sunglass man, for yelling
obscenities in those last thesis days, for turning Mr. Blue into Don King, for getting
over your fear of giving presentations, for always finding a reason to stop by the gelato
place, and for trusting me with life advice and secrets.
For these and so many other reasons will I love and cherish thee forever.
Katie
Thank you for being so cold in Italy and yet so utterly cute, for sharing all
kinds of gossip when drunk, for going to Leeds castle with me and getting us out of that
stupid maze, for looking at me funny when that poopstain broke up with me, for giving me
the only good secret I had the entire year (who says I'm a bad eavesdropper?) and for the
head-in-hands confession which will define my most wondrous Katie moment.
For these and so many other reasons will I love and cherish thee forever.
MisSaytee (aka Mercedee)
Thank you for challenging me like no other during Nertz (and for yelling out
you 'hate me' in the heat of the moment), for NatFlopoogio who sits with Brewster and Mr.
Blue, for the ridiculousness of 'the Other' and 'the other', for being the warm
body in the middle of me and Missy at Wimbledon, for all the trust you placed in my
intimate advice and for adhering to the 11:45am rule.
For these and so many other reasons will I love and cherish thee forever.
Kristine
Thank you for coming to class with those amazingly wonderful outfits, for
listening when I spoke a foreign language about PowerPoint and scanning, for allowing me
the greatest gift of photographing your wedding, for introducing me to a wonderful fellow
like Simon, for visiting us in Florence and assisting me with the walk from one pub to
another, for the laughs you gave me at Thanksgiving dinner at Ffiona's and for always
being yourself.
For these and so many other reasons will I love and cherish thee forever.
Jen
Thank you for always being calm and nervous at the same time, for your
unending dedication to helping others before yourself, for the strange stories of
Lilliputians, for tattoo stories and tattoos themselves, for the amazing trust and advice
you bestowed upon me in forms of life stories and worries, for single-handedly helping
through the weekend that Justin came, and for all the beautiful light you shine around you
continuously.
For these and so many other reasons will I love and cherish thee forever.
Emily
Thank you for always having the most beautiful smile ready and waiting (I
will ALWAYS think of you as deep in smiles), for bouncing up and down and shaking your leg
during class (you're the only one who understands), for the legal advice which has started
me on the strangest of courses, for having a wonderful birthday cake which Mercedee nearly
sacrificed herself over, and for being ceaselessly optimistic about life.
For these and so many other reasons will I love and cherish thee forever.
Pooja
Thank you for finally letting me take your picture without too much of a
fuss, for trusting me with the secret side of Pooja (scandalous!), for always wanting to
know the gossip, for scaring the shit out of me with the dangling items from your window
to mine, for unknowingly letting your shower rain down in my bathroom, for buying concert
tickets, and for giving the rest of us hope that money can indeed be made in the world.
For these and so many other reasons will I love and cherish thee forever.
Frank
Thank you for singing Frank Sinatra at the top of your lungs even though it
echoes throughout the house, for making and eating DELICIOUS hot dogs while other dieted,
for constantly 'being a boy', for conversations that revolved around thongs and other
unmentionable things, for contorting your fingers into weird shapes during presentations,
for being 'indicative' of bigger and better things, for being genuinely interested in my
paper topics, and for bravely completing a year with girls surrounding you from every
angle.
For these and so many other reasons will I love and cherish thee forever.
I love you all.
Thank you
- Alishya(nese) -
