**NOTE** Many of these images link to larger examples, just in
case they are too small for you :)
Victoria and Albert Museum
V & A main courtyard that contained a Chihuly exhibit which
was utterly awesome (see chandelier!)
The plaster cast galleries - by far the most exquisite part of
the museum. I wrote a paper of these galleries which contained plaster
copies of famed original works, including the David who peers out the
door to greet you as you enter. I LOVE it!!
The Glass Gallery, an interesting room filled with glass and mirrors
(see me crouching in left picture). Utterly fascinating...
Houses of Parliament
Houses of Parliament, in all its dusky glory. Every damn time
I take a picture of this building, some weird haze manages to zoom its
way in there. Why do you think that is?
Margaret, Mira and I in front of Parliament. This photo turned
out so terrible (and still doesn't look that good), but I threw a mini-fit
in the photo place for bad developing. It's all about the wonders of Photoshop...
The House of Parliament next to Big Ben (this one's for you Jamil)
Regent's Park and Madame Tussaud's
Entrance to Regent's Park - lovely, isn't it?
These swans were crazy!! So I decide that it would make a nice addition
to my photo album to have some nature shots so I sneak up to this swan
and take a picture, thinking that it would be flattered to be included
in my memories. Instead, it starts honking and flapping wildly and literally
started chasing me down the sidewalk!! I started running and as I turned
a corner, a swarm of pidgeons attacked me! Needless to say, I left the
park quickly because of bird danger...
There was a fantastic garden in the park, including these stunning
flowers which seemed to glow. The swan on the lake was a nice moment before
the attack...
Near to Regent's Park was Madame Tussaud's wax museum which has
to be the strangest place I've ever been before. I took lots of pictures
of the varying stars and famous people, and when I left I felt like I had
been to the Oscars or some nifty event. The presidents, I gotta say, were
the most real looking and it took me a good moment to realize that they
were fake...
I felt like I was among the celebrities... like at the Oscars or something.
Although most of the wax people seemed utterly real, Anthony Hopkins
lacked a certain life-like quality..
Various Scene Shots
These two scenes were taken when I succumbed to the tourist gods...
I took one of those bus tours and one of the first things we saw was
the sign of Chicago which made me miss home instantaneously. The dragon
actually denotes the 'City of London' which is this tiny part of the city
that is surrounded by the dragon statues... very odd. Little did I know
that 'London' is actually teeny tiny and it's all these weird neighborhoods
that make up what everyone else knows as London.
Continuing the day of touring came the boat tour (complimentary
after buying the bus tour) and we got to go under and around this nifty
Tower Bridge (which is right next to Londong bridge)
Covent Garden, on a typical Saturday... Strange people and stranger
costumes adorned the streets and mimes. The guy in white actually ended
up being an ex-flatmate of Margaret (the blond) and when he saw her, he
completely mauled her without getting out of character... great skill!
Some random buildings that I walked by in Marlybone - I love the
architecture...
While we were on vacation, I decided to tackle a walking tour that I got
out of my guide book. I walked around the neighborhood known as Marylebone
and passed Park Crescent (on the left) and the Outer Circle of Regent's Park
(on the right). It was a nice walk as I got acquainted with the neighborhood
(of course, that was before I walked 9 blocks in the wrong direction...)
Piccadilly Circus at night (after seeing Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with
Brendan Fraser)
I thought it appropriate to end with a pub called the Bung Hole
(one of those things you walk by and do the double take)
