TRAVELS AROUND ITALY
While we were studying hard, we realized that definite breaks were needed - so we traipsed off to Rome, Siena, Pisa, Bologna, Cinque Terre and Venice for a little breather. They were exciting and event-filled and we only wish there would have been more time to travel more!!
ROME![]()
It was Missy's birthday soon after we arrived in Florence and she wanted to go to Rome for
the special day. One early morning we woke up, raced over to the train station armed with
our Eurostar tickets, stopped in McD's for a healthy breakfast of whoppers and fries and
as we were waiting for our 'fast' food, our train left... a minute early by our watches.
We watched as the train melted off in the distance and contemplated the possibility of
jumping on while it was in motion. Needless to say, we took a day to contemplate the
train's promtpness and wound up going to Rome on the next day. It was a fantastic day...
so nice that Missy, Katie and Tammy went again later in the semester!

This is Katie and Missy, surrounded by Bernini's colonnade which encloses the Piazza in
front of the Vatican. The church was bright, the Sistine Chapel was as amazing as ever and
the Pope was nowhere to be seen...

Alishya in front of some devilish looking cherubs - who knew that they were the holders of
holy water until an old lady gave Alishya a dirty look for leaning on them? <:)

The first trip we didn't make it inside the Colosseum since we got sidetracked by a Klimt
exhibit, but we saw it as we crossed the street.

In the midst of rain, the Colosseum still provides wonder and fascination.

Missy, Katie and Tammy - aren't they the cutest things?

Alishya on the train home... I wonder what this man is thinking at this very moment.
Hmmmmm :)
