Day 7 was ADVENTURE DAY! We signed up with
Swiss Travel for the Buena Vista
Adventure Tour which turned out to be AWESOME! A few hours doing the infamous
canopy tours of Costa Rica, a 1500ft waterslide down the side of a mountain, a
horseback ride to the volcanic mud baths and a few hours lounging in the hot
springs of the Rincon Volcano. Who could beat that? So up we were at 8am and on
the tour bus to get the 'adrenaline rush' our guide kept talking about. What a
wonderful (and exhausting) day!

Sam's first tour ever.. He was skeptical as first, but I think he liked
being carted around :)

A mango? We couldn't, for the life of us, identify most of the
vegetation around us (which seemed a little shady)

Costa Rica has some of the most beautiful gardens I've seen, and it was
dry season. Who knows what happens when it rains!

Us, getting suited up to fly about the trees! What fun!
(although, there's something suspicious about the guy checking out Sam's
ass)

Up, up, up to the canopies in the trees!

A little monkey action (there was actually a herd of monkeys and coati
on one of our platforms... they were great fun!)

Coati, native to Costa Rica, thought they were monkeys and would try to
use their tails to go from tree to tree. This strategy, although great
in theory, failed miserably and the coati would literally just fall from
tree to tree... quite ungracefully, I might add. Poor things.

We're excited now!

Look at me in my little red hat!

Look at those skinny legs!

I could have stayed up there all day - what fun!

The 1500 ft waterslide that we were to fly down with only the safety of
a small helmet and an inner tube. Me and Sam loved it so much, we went
twice! :)

I screamed my head off the whole way down... I'm surprised they didn't
hear me in Chicago!

My all-time favorite photo of Sam - poor thing, he was having a hell of
a time staying in the slide.
Lightweight and all...
>:)

To the horses! After a wonderful Costa Rican meal, we're off to
the volcanic mud baths. Sam's horse was a sprightly thing, and would
bound off in gallop every so often without warning. A few times Sam
looked like he would be thrown off, but he would finally gain control
and then come back to the end of the line to chat with me (since I had
the dumb, slow horse!)

My "donkey", as Sam called him. I was happy with the choice, though...
no falling off for me!

What a fine ass you have! :)

A look up to the volcano...

Mud, anyone?

Mud people!

Crazy tourists!

Aaah, the devil finally comes out!

This guy was on tour with us, and they completely decked him out in
native gear. He looked fantastic!

This was a great family from Wilmette who happened to be on our tour bus
- what are the chances you meet people who live right near you? They
were great and we all had Bahama Mamas and other tropical beverages while lounging in the hot
springs.

Adventure day done and our trip almost over...
Some tex-mex, Bahama Mamas and we're leaving tomorrow!
Sigh, sad.
