We arrived in Costa Rica
in the early afternoon, and after a $40 cab ride, we arrived at our
first destination - Playa Ocotal. We stayed at the
Hotel Villa Casa
Blanca which was both phenomenal and super-romantic. Pancakes and
waffles for breakfast, cocktails in the whirlpool, tub for two on a
platform in the room, and a host of parrots who would yell "Hola" as you
walked past.

Parrots!

A place for the parrots to lounge and view the oncoming tourists with
interest.

Teaching the parrot to smoke...

Alishya with wildlife!

The pool shower... which I thought was a little suggestive.

Our pool, where we learned how to snorkel.

This was in the back of our hotel - lush gardens, hammocks, and
beautiful birds!

You know how you get off a plane all stiff and irritated? Well, we
decided to combat that whole idea with a little massage. The massage
ladies were to come to us, so we waited patiently for the de-stressing
to begin. When they arrived, they took us into our hotel's garden where
two beds lie awaiting underneath this hut. So we got naked, and got
massages side-by-side. What a great way to start the vacation!!

These blue birds were everywhere... and as beautiful as they come. They
would fight with the parrots for food, assuring morning entertainment!

Curious as to the view from our room, I lifted the blinds to find this
fine fellow looking back at me. He stayed for a few hours, and I was
constantly reminded that we weren't in Kansas anymore.

We spend our first meal with typical Costa Rican cuisine, at a place
called Picante. We left right before sunset and caught some great views
on our trek.

Sunset...
